Research Day 2025
With a bottom-up approach and a newly formed committee, this year’s Research Day takes on a new dimension.

We, ITA, were happy to be the host of the annual Research Day, which took place today here at the Institute of Technology in Architecture, ETH Zürich, and brought together researchers from across all of the institutes within the Department of Architecture (D-ARCH) ETH Zurich.
The day began with introductions from Prof. Silke Langenberg (Director of Research D-ARCH), Prof. Matthias Kohler (Dean D-ARCH), and Prof. Annette Oxenius (upcoming Vice President for Research ETH Zürich), and then unfolded with three workshops on topics:
VISUALS, with Prof. Dr. Amy Kulper (Bartlett School of Architecture) Dr. @Sebastiaan Loosen (gta, ETH Zurich), and Dr. Sarah M. Schlachetzki (IDB, ETH Zurich).
DIAGRAMS, with Prof. Dr. @Albena Yaneva (Politecnico di Torino) Dr. Giulia Boller (gta, ETH Zurich) Dr. Anton Savov (ITA, ETH Zurich).
NARRATIVES, with Prof. Dr. Daniel Ibañez (Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia), Ethel Baraona Pohl (IEA, ETH Zurich), Dr. Nazli Tümerdem (LUS, ETH Zurich).
The day ended with a panel discussion moderated by Prof. Tom Avermaete (Vice Dean D-ARCH).
This event was organised by the D-ARCH Research Day Committee comprising Dragos Ghiocaș Ghioca (ITA), Nina Irmert (IDB), Raquel Jerobon (LUS), Maria Kouvari (IDB), Radu Remus Macovei (gta), Francisco Moura Veiga (IEA), Luca Okay Can (gta), and supported by Prof. Silke Langenberg, as well as members of the Dean’s office. This new committee of PhD researchers was responsible for developing the concept and driving the execution of the event, which uniquely this year provided a hands-on learning environment within which discussions could take place.
