Tor Alva nears completion.

The much-anticipated opening of the Tor Alva, or the “White Tower”, in the alpine village of Mulegns in Canton Graubünden is scheduled for 20 May 2025.

Tor Alva under construction.

The Tor Alva will be the world’s tallest 3D printed tower – measuring 30 meters in height, and consisting of 124 individual printed components, printed here at the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA) inside its Robotic Fabrication Hall (RFL), ETH Zürich.

Led by the Digital Building Technologies (DBT) group, the White Tower project will demonstrate the groundbreaking possibilities of computational design and digital fabrication, which will fundamentally change conventional buildings in the years to come. Investigating concepts of circularity and reuse, the tower will be constructed with disassembly in mind so that it can be rebuilt at another location after its five-year service life in Mulegns.
