January is an exciting month here at ITA, as we download and process the Architecture and Technology Fellowship applications. As in 2024, the Fellowship attracted almost two hundred candidates. We were again pleased to see a strong diverse applicant pool – we had applicants from a total of 42 countries, and 49% of them were women. This is a good result for ITA, an institute that actively promotes diversity amongst its researchers.

This year, applications could be submitted to 7 professorships: Architecture and Building Process, Architecture and Building Systems, Architecture and Digital Fabrication, Architecture and Structures, Structural Design, Digital Building Technologies, Construction Heritage and Preservation.

The highest number of applicants applied to the Architecture and Building Systems group – which confirms continued increased interest in topics around sustainable building design and management.

As part of the application process, candidates must submit a CV, motivation letter, research statement and a portfolio. It was encouraging to see many applicants with very strong research background and advanced computational design skills.

All applications will be reviewed and a short list of 6 to 7 candidates will go through to the final interview round, which takes place mid-March 2025. The selected candidates will be notified shortly after. We will be announcing the final two names later in September this year.
