National Future Day in Switzerland
Shaping the next generation of talent!
Today is National Future Day in Switzerland. On this day, children aged 10–12 are invited to the workplaces of adults to explore different career opportunities.
Around 330 children participated in National Future Day at ETH Zurich, exploring the diverse careers in science and technology through twenty different programmes. Highlights included workshops in robotics, biology, architecture, and computer science, which sparked the children's curiosity through creative experiments.
At the Institute of Technology in Architecture, we were delighted to host 22 young visitors. Their stay was organised by the external page NCCR DFAB team together with Design++, ETH Zurich. The children painted with collaborative robots, observed a large robot building towers in the Robotic Fabrication Lab (RFL), and had their dream houses virtually drawn using artificial intelligence (AI). The programme concluded with a cantilever building competition, which was great fun.
A big thank you to the MAS ETH DFAB students for running the robot painting station and to the Block Research Group, ETH Zurich for organising the cantilever competition.
