Next semester, the Chair of Structural Design will offer two new elective courses both in the Department of Architecture and in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Both courses focus on the relationship between space, structures, and materials and possible design strategies that allow controlling the complexity of such a multi-disciplinary design space. The goal is to show students that the creation of high quality and sustainable buildings is possible only through a seamless coordination between architectural idea, structural concepts, and a conscious use of material resources.

The course “Architektur und Tragwerk” (D-ARCH) is tailored for architecture students, while the interdepartmental course “Structural Design” (D-BAUG+D-ARCH) engages both students from the Civil Engineering Department and students from the Master in Integrated Building Systems (MIBS).

Both courses are developed and led by Prof. Dr. Jacqueline Pauli, Dr. Federico Bertagna, and Bartosz Bukowski.
