external page Gilles Retsin, founder of London-based startup external page AUAR, and external page Johan Wijesinghe, an architect and researcher from Los Angeles, are teaching a studio titled "Architecture in Large Quantities". Both Gilles and Johan are guest-lecturers here at ITA.

The studio is taught in collaboration with Cristiano Aries Teixeira from BUK, the chair for construction and building technologies. The studio explores sustainable approaches to scaling architecture, with a focus on all-timber construction and computational design. By integrating AI, advanced digital workflows, and innovative timber strategies, the studio challenges students to consider computational design at the core of their architectural thinking. It aims to deepen students' understanding of research-driven architectural design processes, equipping them with the tools to address the complexities of sustainable, large-scale manufacturing of housing.

Gilles and Johan will be at ITA this academic year. Connect with them on LinkedIn, and feel free to come by at HIB E 44 and say hello!
